Factory, Iklad
Completed
2012

Located in the town of Iklad, this instrument and engineering plant has been in operation since the 50s. In a narrow gorge and surrounded by woods, the facility encompasses a total land area of 15 ha and is involved in the manufacture of hermetic electric motors, with different phases of production spread out in several buildings of various sizes. Based on the design project, a multifunctional production hall suitable for three-shift operation with a total staff of 360 was to be implemented, with an initial floor space of 6,000 sq. m. As a requirement, the number of intervening support structures was to be brought to a minimum, in order to ensure compatibility with any manufacturing activity other than those representing extreme environmental loads such as foundries or galvanizing plants. A prefabricated reinforced concrete framework is the core for the craneless production hall and its adjoining main building that houses offices and changing rooms are constructed using metal-clad horizontal sandwich panels. The striking red-and-yellow facade fits also well into the history of the site. Of particular importance in the design process were its aspects of coordination, structural engineering, fire safety and project optimization. I created all concept plans, as well as permit and working drawings as an employee of SNC Lavalin Hungary.
