Factory, Kartal
Plan only
2010
A prospective green-field investment project located in the town of Kartal, this injection molding facility comprises a production hall and warehouse with additional offices and changing rooms, across a total floor space of approx. 11,000 sq m. It was at the side towards the main road in front of the three-nave crane bay, monumental on a rural scale, that I designed the main building featuring a ground floor and two additional storeys for changing rooms and offices, whose intermediate weight works as a counterbalance and blankets the production hall and warehouse behind. Setting the character for the entire project is the implementation of the facade, with its choice of materials and color dynamics properly symbolizing the cutting-edge three-phase injection process that takes place inside. The crane bays are constructed using prefabricated reinforced concrete structures and clad with horizontal sandwich panels, whereas the main building features vivid colored Trespa panels. I created all concept plans, as well as permit and working drawings as an employee of SNC Lavalin Hungary with the help of Szabó András structural engineer and Balogh Bertalan architect. Land area: approx. 5.6 ha. Although the project was awarded with a binding building permit, it has not been implemented.
