Located in the town of Iklad, this instrument and engineering plant has been in operation since the 50s. In a narrow gorge and surrounded by woods, the facility encompasses a total land area of 15 ha and is involved in the manufacture of hermetic electric motors, with different phases of production spread out in several buildings of various sizes. I designed in the SNC-Lavalin engeneering office during the year 2011 the bigger building of the plot, the 6.000 sqm “R” production hall. The company SNC moved out of Hungary in the year 2013. In 2014 I had to design the extention of the craneless production hall and its adjoining main building that houses offices and changing rooms, both having a prefabricated reinforced concrete framework with a 3.200 sqm production hall and 450 sqm opened but covered, steel structure storage area. The expansion was completed, and the building, with approx. 10,000 sqm of floorspace, has been in use for years.
