Factory, Isaszeg 3.
Completed
2019

Surrounded by the slopes of the Gödöllő Conservation Area and situated on the boundaries of a frequented heavy industrial site near the town of Isaszeg, lies this plot with a rectangular industrial building with a concrete-panel facade. Retaining its original continuous floor space of 2.500 sq. m, I was tasked with designing a 2.000 sq. m storage area, 2.000 sq. m production area and 1.000 sq. m for other purposes expansion in order to give way to a plastic injection molding facility. Adjacent to the existing building’s rigid slab, I designed a separate hall, taller than the building, as well as an interconnecting module and a smaller wing hidden on the back of the original building. This way, a certain sense of dynamism is created between the existing monolithic layout and the three new, almost fully enclosed white blocks. Constructed of a prefab reinforced concrete structure, the new hall and the backward wing are clad with horizontally arranged metal sandwich panels. Facades of the interconnecting module and the main building that houses changing rooms and offices are implemented using insulated and plastered surfaces both white and colored. Planning took six years, giving rise to a number of concept plans. I have conducted several permit- and then amended permit procedures, and what made it particularly interesting was that the zoning category of the plot was changed several times during this period. The office wing interior is not ready yet and some of the production parts will be finished in the future.
