Apartment reconstruction, Budapest, I.district
Completed
2015
Located in Budapest’s Castle District and comprising just about 100 sqm of floorspace, this crumbling apartment retained some of its original glory. As a result of our conversion, a discerning living environment was born - featuring painstakingly restored original details and completely new, modern structures. It was a bold project because only a single bedroom was created, and a tiny one. After the renovation, the unit served as a residential property for years, but in 2019, it became the head office of an exclusive antique dealership. Seeing that the Castle District has since 2015 undergone major transformations and is increasingly taken as shorthand for the hub of State power, and there is a whole new circle of owners and residents around, it is not completely out of the realms of possibility that the original high-society apartment that was approximately twice its current size could be re-established.
