Apartment reconstruction, Budapest, II. district
Completed
2011
Originally built in the 1860s, this tiny villa in Buda has undergone a number of radical conversions and extensions. Today's owners of the approximately 140-sq-m ground floor apartment live in the unit above but wish to utilise both on the long term. In 2009, this became a reality and plans for the complete, superior conversion of the lower unit were drafted. The replacement of the ceiling above the hallway and the boiler room will allow for the future establishment of an interior staircase. Relying on the thick walls and most of the newly installed floors and suspended ceilings, both cooling and heating are ensured by means of circulating air that is only slightly different in temperature from ambient air. In 2011 the two flats were unified, the stair was built.
