The task was a complete gut renovation and conversion of the 120-sq-m apartment, including mechanicals and electricals, interior- and furniture design, and the establishment of a 45-sq-m terrace. A remarkably run-down basement apartment, whose walls had been subject to mildew and moisture, had to be transformed into a generous living space that opens right onto a garden. Although fully completed, with a decade already having passed we must acknowledge that a highly dilapidated sous-terrain unit, one that is exposed to every moisture issue imaginable, can never be realistically turned into a generous garden-access apartment.
