Reconstruction facade and roof, villa art nouveau, Mátyásföld
In progress
2024
The architectural design task was to preserve the villa's stylistic elements and reinforce its original character: built in 1906, the sophisticated bourgeois building boasted art nouveau and Hungarian art deco features. Technical tasks included the design of the thermal insulation of the façades and the so-called “thermal envelope.” Following the Second World War, the vacation villa was nationalized and subdivided into three apartments despite being entirely unfit for this, given its beautiful and rational original floor plans. Windows and entry doors out of line with the original fenestration, along with foreign-looking annexes, did a disservice to the building; despite this, the building – valuable even in this condition – was fortunately placed under local protection. Unfortunately, we did not have the means to repair the damages done in the 20th century as part of our architectural program, but saving the villa may nonetheless be a realistic goal. Construction works commenced in the summer of 2024.
