Reconstruction, facade, Budapest, Somogyi Béla street
Completed
2016
Budapest, District 8, Palace Quarter, Somogyi Béla utca. Besides redesigning the façade of this multi-unit residential building, built in 1891 in Neo-Renaissance style, I was also tasked with defining its colourways, getting planning permissions and harmonising the overhaul and reconstruction with the original blueprints. The badly deteriorated façade is the remnant of a simpler redesign, but the building’s original splendour can be restored using the plans stored in the National Archives. The renovation scheme also called for the re-design and the re-manufacturing of the oak gate, which has been completed.
