Reconstruction facade, Budapest, Mária street 18
In progress
2021

We were commissioned with the renovation of the main facade of the listed residential building at Mária utca 18., which consists of a ground floor and a single storey. The goal was to reconstruct the original condition, or at least the condition considered to be the original. Preserved in roughly original condition and in good shape, the single-story Urházy House is a prime example of the historical suburban construction projects carried out in Pest in the early 1870s. This was a relatively complex task, because the subsequent drying and insulation of the wall and the construction of the new stone base partly conflicted with the restrictions in force for listed buildings. As for the finely partitioned and outward-opening doors and windows, we are planning full-scale reconstruction, which will be a great challenge in the construction phase. The architectural-historical research was carried out by Kristóf Kelecsényi and his team, while the subsequent wall insulation was designed by Attila Kövesi. Constructions will begin when the residential block obtains subsidies from the district or the capital.
