Reconstruction facade, Budapest, Puskin street
Completed
2014
Budapest, District 8, Palace Quarter, Puskin utca. In addition to redesigning the façade of this apartment building, built in 1886 in Neo-Renaissance style, I was also tasked with defining its colourways, getting planning permissions and harmonising the overhaul and reconstruction with the original blueprints. When I started the designing, the decrepit façade was somewhat more understated than it had originally been planned; a full restoration therefore required only minor modifications. Works have been carried out resulting in a rather graceful facade, yet the building serves as clear evidence that it is impossible to implement a ground floor renovation without a retrofit insulation of the main wall and eliminating capillary water ingress.
